Real stories.
Real result.

I can truly say I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help, support expert guidance and compassion Dee has afforded me. She’s patient and kind and is an absolute gift. Thanks to her I now have a tool kit to help me. Last year was particularly difficult, but with Dee by my side, I made it through and have grown as a person.

I have been working with Deirdre for some months since my issues with alcohol. Deirdre is brilliant in identifying issues you may have as a person. She set a plan and has been frequently in contact helping me through my journey to successfully being myself and not reliant on alcohol. I’m not totally at the end of my journey but pretty close.

What is Hypnosis?

It is a trance like, naturally occurring state of mind that can bring you into a safe, natural state of relaxation. There are many schools of thought on this, but it is generally agreed that it is a state of focused attention.

Brain scans on people who are in hypnosis show that brain wave activity moves from a Beta state to an Alpha state, and sometimes, to a Theta state. This is not dissimilar to the pattern of brain activity during meditation.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the use of different types of therapy in hypnosis, along with the mind’s own natural abilities, to resolve issues, relieve emotional burdens and achieve personal goals. It is a safe, effective process and involves the client and therapist working together to bring about positive changes in how the client thinks, feels and behaves.

It’s important to note that hypnotherapy should be conducted by trained and qualified professionals.

Hypnosis was approved by the British Medical Association in 1955 and the American Medical Association in 1958. The American Psychological Association approved hypnosis as a science in 1960.  For over 200 years before official recognition, medical and psychological professionals were using hypnosis to benefit their patients.

What is the difference between the Conscious and Subconscious Mind?

The Conscious part of our mind deals with reasoning, calculating, analysing and remembering what we need to get through the day. The Subconscious houses all of our permanent memories, creativity, belief systems, perceptions and programmed habits and behaviour. Hypnotherapy can bring the Subconscious back in harmony with the Conscious, so our experience reflects what we want, not what we are conditioned to accept.

Who Can Be Hypnotised?

Anyone who can follow simple instructions can be hypnotised.  Hypnosis cannot be done against a person’s will, and is safe and effective for adults, teenagers and children.

All hypnosis is self – hypnosis.

What is Hypnotherapy used for?

Hypnotherapy can be used to improve, and in many cases entirely remove, any symptom or challenge that is caused by emotions, habits, behaviour or psychological issues. Experts now agree that many life problems, including physical disease, may have underlying causative factors that are predominantly psychological or emotional.

Hypnotherapy works well with any issue involving psychological/emotional factors. Resolving a problem that’s “inside you but feels out of your control” can give you your life back.  As well as resolving problems, many now use hypnotherapy to improve performance in sport, business, study, the arts and personal relationships. Hypnosis is used to create a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility in order to promote positive changes in thoughts.  It has been used for a variety of purposes. Some common uses of hypnotherapy include:

Hypnotherapy can help individuals overcome unwanted behaviors such as smoking, overeating, nail-biting, and more. It aims to replace negative habits with healthier ones.

Hypnotherapy can be used to induce relaxation and reduce stress and anxiety. It may help individuals learn techniques to manage their stress responses and develop a calmer mindset.

Hypnotherapy can help individuals confront and manage phobias and fears. It often involves desensitization techniques and reframing negative associations.

Hypnotherapy has been used to manage chronic pain conditions, such as migraines, fibromyalgia, and back pain. It may help individuals alter their perception of pain and enhance their ability to cope with discomfort.

Hypnotherapy can aid in addressing insomnia and other sleep disorders by promoting relaxation and helping individuals establish healthier sleep patterns.

Hypnotherapy can boost self-confidence and self-esteem by working on individuals’ self-perception and self-beliefs.

Athletes, musicians, and individuals in various fields have used hypnotherapy to enhance their performance by improving focus, reducing performance anxiety, and building self-assurance.

Hypnotherapy can be used in combination with other therapeutic approaches to help individuals process traumatic experiences and manage symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Aside from behaviors like smoking and overeating, hypnotherapy can also address other unwanted habits like nail-biting, hair-pulling, and more.

While not a replacement for medical treatment, hypnotherapy has been used as a complementary approach to manage symptoms of certain health conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), allergies, and skin disorders.

Hypnotherapy can assist individuals in setting and achieving goals by increasing motivation, focus, and determination.

Hypnotherapy sessions often induce a deeply relaxed state, similar to guided meditation, which can help individuals develop mindfulness and relaxation skills.

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

This is founded on the belief that there is a connection between neurological processes, language, and patterns of behaviour that have been learned through experience.

It suggests that these can be changed to achieve specific goals in life.

Key components of NLP:

    • Neurological Processes (Neuro):
    • This refers to how our mind and body interact. NLP explores the ways in which our sensory experiences (sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell) shape our mental and emotional states.
    • Language (Linguistic):
    •
    • Language is a powerful tool for communication, and NLP emphasises the impact of language on our thoughts and behaviours. It explores how the words we use can influence our perception and experience of the world.
    • Programming:
    • This refers to the patterns of behaviour that we learn through experience. NLP suggests that by understanding and changing these patterns, individuals can achieve specific goals and improve their overall well-being.

NLP techniques are often used for:

  • personal development communication skills
  • overcoming phobias
  • improving relationships
  • achieving success in various aspects of life.

Practitioners of NLP may use a range of methods, including visualisation, anchoring (associating a specific feeling or state with a particular stimulus), and reframing (changing the way an experience is mentally represented)

Transformational Coaching

is a form of coaching that focuses on facilitating deep and lasting personal and professional change in individuals.

It goes beyond traditional coaching approaches by addressing not only specific goals and behaviours but also the underlying beliefs, values and mindset of the individual.

The aim is to bring about profound transformation and empower individuals to achieve their fullest potential.

Key elements of Transformational Coaching include:

Personal Growth and Development:

Transformational coaching is centred around the idea of personal growth. Coaches work with individuals to help them gain a deeper understanding of themselves, identify their strengths and areas for development, and set meaningful goals for their personal and professional lives.

Mindset Shifts:

Transformational coaching often involves helping individuals shift their mindset. This may include challenging limiting beliefs, fostering a growth mindset, and cultivating a more positive and empowering outlook on life.

Values and Purpose Alignment:

Coaches assist individuals in clarifying their values and aligning their actions with their core beliefs. This alignment helps individuals lead more purposeful and fulfilling lives.

Self-Discovery:

Transformational coaching encourages self-discovery. Coaches may use various tools and techniques to help individuals explore their passions, strengths, and areas of interest, leading to a deeper understanding of themselves.

Overcoming Limiting Patterns:

Individuals often have patterns of behaviour that hold them back. Transformational coaches help clients identify and overcome these limiting patterns, replacing them with more empowering habits.

Goal Setting and Action Planning:

While traditional coaching also involves goal setting, transformational coaching takes it a step further by ensuring that the goals align with the individual’s deeper values and purpose. Coaches assist in creating action plans and providing ongoing support to achieve these goals.

Holistic Approach:

Transformational coaching takes a holistic approach, considering various aspects of an individual’s life, including relationships, career, health, and well-being. The aim is to create positive changes that ripple across different areas.

Empowerment and Accountability:

Transformational coaches empower individuals to take ownership of their lives. While providing support and guidance, coaches also hold clients accountable for their actions, fostering a sense of responsibility and commitment.

Transformational Coaching is often sought by individuals who are looking for more than just achieving specific goals; they are seeking a profound shift in how they perceive themselves and their place in the world. The process is dynamic, collaborative, and focused on creating sustained positive change. Coaches in this field may use a combination of coaching techniques, psychological principles, and personal development strategies to facilitate transformation.
